Statement of Faith

A Confession Rooted in Scripture and the Reformation

I. The Scriptures

We believe the Holy Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, infallible, and inerrant Word of God. It is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice, sufficient for instructing the church in truth and godliness. No personal experience, private revelation, or church tradition may contradict or supplement what God has spoken through Scripture.

2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:19–21; Psalm 19:7–9; Matthew 4:4

II. God

There is one living and true God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is holy, sovereign, just, and gracious. God is the Creator and Sustainer of all things, deserving of all worship, reverence, and obedience.

Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; Isaiah 6:1–5; Revelation 4:11; Colossians 1:16–17

III. Man and Sin

God created humanity in His image, male and female, for His glory. Through Adam’s rebellion, all mankind fell into sin and became spiritually dead and alienated from God. Man is wholly incapable of saving himself or of pleasing God apart from divine grace.

Genesis 1:26–27; Romans 3:10–12; Romans 5:12; Ephesians 2:1–3; Psalm 51:5

IV. Salvation

Salvation is a work of God’s sovereign grace from beginning to end. It is received by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. The gospel declares that sinners are justified by the righteousness of Christ imputed to them through faith, not by any work of their own. Regeneration, sanctification, and glorification are all works of God’s Spirit, and no part of salvation can be earned or merited.

Ephesians 2:8–9; Titus 3:5–7; Romans 3:21–26; Philippians 1:6; John 1:12–13; Romans 8:29–30

V. The Church

The church is the body of Christ, composed of all believers from every age. The local church is an assembly of baptized believers, gathered under the Word of God, governed by Christ, and committed to His mission. The church is called to practice meaningful membership, biblical discipline, and worship that is regulated by Scripture and centered on Christ.

Ephesians 1:22–23; Acts 2:42–47; 1 Corinthians 12:12–27; Matthew 18:15–17; Colossians 1:18

VI. Worship

Worship is the heartfelt response of the redeemed to the truth of God. It must be offered in spirit and in truth, informed by the Word, and focused on God’s glory. We reject worship practices that prioritize emotional experience over doctrinal clarity or that borrow from the entertainment-driven methods of the world. Music used in worship must be theologically sound, lyrically precise, and appropriate for congregational singing.

John 4:23–24; Psalm 96:1–9; 1 Corinthians 14:15; Colossians 3:16; Hebrews 12:28–29

VII. Ordinances

Christ has given two ordinances to the church: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water as a symbol of union with Christ in His death and resurrection. The Lord’s Supper is a memorial meal that proclaims Christ’s death and anticipates His return.

Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:3–5; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26; Acts 2:41–42

VIII. The Last Things

We believe in the personal and visible return of Jesus Christ. God will judge the living and the dead. Those who are in Christ will be raised to eternal life; those outside of Christ will face eternal punishment. God will make all things new, and His redeemed people will worship Him forever in righteousness and truth.

Acts 1:11; Revelation 20:11–15; Matthew 25:31–46; 2 Thessalonians 1:7–10; Revelation 21:1–5

IX. On Worship Music and Licensing

We affirm that music used in gathered worship must align with biblical doctrine, honor the holiness of God, and avoid both emotional manipulation and theological compromise. We reject the commercialization of worship and the celebrity culture surrounding much of the modern praise industry. Therefore, all songs provided by Free Church Songs are anonymous, freely given, and completely disconnected from licensing systems like CCLI that financially support movements contrary to sound doctrine.

1 Chronicles 16:9; Psalm 33:1–3; 2 Corinthians 2:17; Colossians 3:16; Titus 2:1; Romans 12:2
